BOB Sport Utility Stroller
It’s time for Feature Friday! I went to check out the BOB Stroller today and man… would I love one of those. Here’s the one I’m in love with at the moment. I love the color, the size, the weight. I was trying it out in the store and it seemed very smooth. And it’s orange! Lil man’s favorite color. It’s also available in bright blue. It’d would be nice to have a jogging stroller for when I in-line skate with lil man, but I can’t justify the expense right now with hubs. Currently, I skate and push lil man in his Graco Stroller. It’s been ok so far because…

Separation Anxiety and How a Day Bed & Carseat Solved the Problem
Lil man has always been pretty independent. It’s allowed me to go out with him alone – him in the backseat with the rear-facing carseat while I drive. I was able to put him into his crib for naps without needing to cuddle him to sleep since he’d fall asleep on his own. Then a few weeks ago he completely lost it. One day he was fine. The next day he became very attached. Every time we put him into the car seat or even near the car, he flipped out… got so upset and worked up he’d throw up. When we put him into the crib, he’d cry and…

How an Arizona Ice Tea bottle, Storage Container, Two Clamps, Two Hoses & a Utility Sink Saved Our Home from Hurricane Irene
This past weekend was a crazy weekend. Since we live in Bergen County, New Jersey, we were in the direct path of Hurricane Irene. The storm hit us Sunday early in the day. We stayed up late to make sure nothing happened to the house. We were getting ready to sleep at 1am when my brother and hubs heard a loud bang. And our power went out. We never bought a generator for the house… we simply forgot after the last winter storm. What a big mistake. With the power out, our sump pump stopped working. With the fear of flood in their minds, my brother and hubs decided to…

(Un)Freedom
To help keep me writing, I joined The Red Dress Club (TRDC) now known as Write on Edge. It’s been a while since I’ve done some creative writing. But this week’s prompt is pretty simple and quick. Since lil man is still sleeping this morning I had a little time to participate this week. This week’s assignment was simple: write a story of your choice. The catch? Write it as a tweet. Use only 140 characters – including spaces. Here’s my story: The challenges of life takes its toll. One day full. Next day dull. Just want to be free. No responsibilities. See the world & be care free.

Boy Am I Tired & 5 Reasons I Miss Naps
I don’t have much to say today… except … boy am I tired. lol. My 14 month old baby boy is completely tiring me out. He has an abundance of energy. Sometimes I don’t know what to do with him. And to top it off, he hasn’t wanted to take naps recently. He was doing 2-3 hour naps once or twice a day for the last few months. This past week he’s just done 10 – 30 minutes a day. I can only do so much running, jumping, lifting, rolling and everything else with him in one day. It just makes me so worn out by mid-day. What is a…

Cross Stitching for Baby
I started this cross stitching piece a long time ago. Probably at least five years. I was originally going to give a friend, but since I never finished it, it sat in my cabinet of cross stitching supplies. Finally got around to completing this, but I’m going to keep it for us. Just need to put Lil Man’s name and birth information on it. What do you think?

Schwinn Bikes, Summer Sanders and Lil Man’s First Bike Ride
We attended an event hosted by Schwinn and Summer Sanders on Wednesday. It was such a blast! So I decided to dedicate this weeks’ Feature Friday to Schwinn bikes and a recap of the event. Note: I’m not receiving any compensation for this post. When we first arrived at the event, lil man was his usual shy self. They had a coloring table for kids to decorate a “license plate” to stick onto their bicycles so this was our first stop to get him comfortable. I was so happy to see him hold the crayons and actually started doodling – his first time. Here’s a photo from my point-n-shoot. He…

Chinese Ghost Festival & Month
My grandmother called to remind me that this month is “ghost” month on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Basically, it’s the month many Chinese believe spirits come onto the surface of Earth to roam around the living. What does this mean to our family? We’re not allowed to go out at night after dark. Why? Because our grandmother fears bad spirits may decided to “attach” themselves to our bodies thereby causing us bad luck or spiritually bad mojo. Of course, my younger cousins don’t listen because well, it’s pretty silly to expect high school and college aged kids to stay at home and not go out with their friends at night.…

China’s One-Child Policy and Adoption
There are a lot of things I’m proud of being Chinese. And then there are some things I’m not so proud of. The taboo about adopting or taking in a child not of your own blood is one of my not-proud-things and the other is China’s one-child law. You might be thinking: What? What’s the one child law? I’ve had many people ask me about this topic. Basically, China introduced a one-child per family law over 30 years ago. Depending on where you live, you cannot have more than one child. There’s also a ethnic rule as well. Both ways, I call it discrimination. They call it “family planning”. My…

Handmade: Dr. Seuss Themed Thank You Cards
I finally finished making the thank you cards to send out to everyone who came to Lil Man’s 1st birthday. It took me forever to make them because I wasn’t motivated on the design nor keen about writing over 30 cards. But, I wanted to make and send them because I wanted everyone to know we were grateful. Here they are… they’re not pretty. In fact, I think they’re pretty ugly. Lol. But, they’re done. They’re handmade. They’re colorful. Our theme was Dr. Seuss’s Cat in the Hat, so I decided to add his head peaking into the card. Materials: Box of 5×7 notecards from Target (it’s a box…
