Book Review: Home-Ec 101

I recently received a complimentary copy Home-Ec 101: Skills for Everyday Living: Cook It, Clean It, Fix It, Wash It by Heather Solos.
Review_Book_HomeEc101When I first heard the title of the book, I wasn’t sure if this book was rubbish or real. The cover was a little hokie for me, but don’t judge a book by its cover right?

I’ve read one chapter so far and I enjoyed it. Yep, I did. Solos’ writing feels friendly and certainly not monotonous. To me, I felt as though she was writing the way she speaks and that makes for easy reading.

But what makes this book good? Her steps are simple and easy to follow. The tips she offers and the advice she gives to start simple. You can’t become a “marathon runner overnight”. If you don’t know what to start cooking first, Solos offers recipes for those who are just beginning to cook. And, don’t be fooled by its cover. The book isn’t only for women, but definitely for busy people and anyone that wants to get cracking on taking control of your home.

But, since I only received the one chapter, I now need to put this book on my wishlist.

Have you read the book? We’d love to hear from you. Share your thoughts about what you liked or didn’t like in our comments section.
