New Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 Carseat Launching at Babies R Us

It’s Saturday! I hardly ever post on Saturdays, but I’m excited today about this event I’m attending at Babies R Us. If you’re on Twitter you’ve probably already heard about this event. Graco is hosting their #GracoSafety event in multiple cities today to launch their newest SnugRide carseat and I’m attending the one in Totowa. I currently have the Graco SnugRide 35. We purchased it in 2010 for our lil man and are now using it for lil lady. So when I saw this event for the new SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40, I really wanted to see it first hand. Oh! And by the way, I wasn’t asked to post…

Sponsored: New York Aquarium Ascarium: A Pirate Adventure

Using my NY Wildlife Ambassador Program family pass this summer I went to the NY Aquarium on a play date with another friend of mine. Our boys loved all the animals especially the sharks. It’s amazing what the kids learn just watching the animals swim around. I wanted to go back to the Aquarium before the end of summer, but unfortunately haven’t been able to. Through our Ambassador program last week I was told there’s a new theme at the New York Aquarium for the Halloween season. It’s called the Ascarium: A Pirate Adventure.  I’m so excited to hear about this program because Lil Man LOVES pirates. So I think we…

    Grandma Back in the Hospital

Last week, I my grandmother fell and fractured her wrist. Today, my brother was able to take the day off to take our grandma to a follow up doctor visit. What should have been an 1-hour doctor visit lead to him sending our grandmother back to the ER today. =( He told my brother if she was pretty active before the fall and hasn’t been since then plus has dizziness then she needs to do new CAT scans to make sure there isn’t any fluid or internal bleeding. After her fall last week my grandmother has had some dizziness. My mom took a 1/2 day off work to meet my brother…

    Scary Moments

After a frightful fall in the kitchen and a terrible smack on the head, I spent the entire day in ER with my Grandmother. It was a scary moment when I was feeding lil man and heard an extremely loud crack. I knew then my grandmother had fallen. One moment she was watching TV in the living room, the next she went to the kitchen and within 15 minutes fell. My heart jumped out of my chest. I ran into the kitchen and found her sprawled on the floor flat on her back, a cutting board next to the sink with chicken on it and a knife not too far…

5 Tools that Make Teaching Your Toddler the Alphabet Fun

They say young children develop one skill at a time. My lil man is a bit behind on speaking full sentences. When I compare him to friend’s who were born the same year, I’ve noticed many of them are all speaking full sentences. He’s now 26 months and just started stringing words together in English. Our pediatrician assured us early on it’s because he’s been able to speak sentences in Chinese and has learned sign language as well so she says it’s because he’s multi-lingual. While speech wasn’t his first development unlike this friends, lil man developed his motor skills very early on. For example, he was able to kick and hit…

My Newborn has a Milk Protein Allergy

Earlier this week, I wrote about my newborn having bloody mucus in her stool and the possibility that it was a milk protein allergy. You can read about that here. Yesterday, she still had the bloody mucus in the stool. It was a lot less than earlier in the week after changing her formula to similac alimentum, but nonetheless, we had to head to the pediatrician. I brought along a stool sample for them to test. The pediatrician put some of the “clean” stool onto a card to test if blood was it in & it was positive. We also discussed the possibility of her reacting to the large amounts…

My Newborn has a Bloody Mucus Stool

The title sounds great doesn’t it? Lil lady had a bloody mucus stool all weekend. She doesn’t have any other symptoms. She’s not fussy and not gassy. She wakes for feedings and feeds without issue. We called the pediatrician on Sunday and they think she’s allergic to milk protein. To err on the safe side, the pediatrician changed our formula to Similac Alimentum. The same day that started, I developed this terrible cough. My family & elders think it’s because I ate too much ginger due to my Chinese post pregnancy diet which then passed to lil lady in breast milk. Plus I also drank milk all week because when…

Fast & Furious: Delivering My Second Baby & the Labor Involved

Yep, our lil lady arrived early at Week 38 and boy was it fast and furious! She arrived on August 22, 2012. Contractions began 1:50am at 15 minutes apart Spoke to my OBGYN at 215am just to let him know I started contractions, he said to wait til 8/9min apart so I wouldn’t get sent home in case the contractions stopped Within the hour I was at 2/3min It was that quick and I didn’t expect it to progress to fast. I called my mom to come over to stay with lil man to get her going then woke my hubs up. It took us 30min to get into the…

What is Group B Strepcoccus (GBS)?

I was supposed to finish this post before I delivered, but lil lady came a bit early and very quickly, but I wanted to post it anyway b/c it’s an important topic that I think everyone should be aware of. Went to the OBGYN for my weekly appointment a few weeks ago. Nothing particularly special, but received results from my culture test from two weeks ago. And unfortunately I’m tested positive for Group B Strepcoccus aka GBS. So what is it? Basically, it’s bacteria that you can carry in your system that usually resides in your intestines or lower genital tract. Approximately 25% of all healthy women carry group B strep bacteria. The bacteria can…
