Another Seizure Scare
Yesterday, I had a minor scare. For those of you that have read about our hospital trip in December, you know we had a seizure scare. For those who didn’t, you can read about that story here. It’s been five months since our hospital trip and seizure scare. And also five months since we found out my father had a history of seizures as a child. We’ve been monitoring Lil Man, but not like nutty parents. Just simply lean on the cautious side when his mood changes or if he gets sick – basically, take his temperature when we think he’s acting abnormal or similar to those days prior to…

Going to Boston for Bloggy Bootcamp!
This weekend, I’m heading to Boston. Why? Because I’m attending my first ever Blog conference! I’m quite excited. I’ve always been big on networking so I’m looking forward to this event put together by the SITS girls (Tiffany Romero & Francesca Banducci). Having decided to grow this blog into a business related to parenting, I decided it was important to meet other bloggers of all niches. As the SITS girls say: “the secret to success is support” Attending their Bloggy Bootcamp is the next step toward building my community of support. So far, the network has proven to be an AWESOME group of people. The speakers line up looks great…

Yippy Momma in Good Housekeeping
Hi all. Special treat today…I was chosen to be featured in Good Housekeeping Magazine! So excited. The process began in December, but I had to wait until the issue came out to share it here. Good Housekeeping May issue features a makeover for Moms. I was one of five moms selected. The person who coordinated everything was Melanie Rudd – she is such a sweety. Love her! I had such a blast during the two-day event. I had the opportunity to meet Ted Gibson, from TLCs “What Not to Wear”. He and his team styled our hair. After not styling my hair in a year, I was due for a…

Book Review: Home-Ec 101
I recently received a complimentary copy Home-Ec 101: Skills for Everyday Living: Cook It, Clean It, Fix It, Wash It by Heather Solos. When I first heard the title of the book, I wasn’t sure if this book was rubbish or real. The cover was a little hokie for me, but don’t judge a book by its cover right? I’ve read one chapter so far and I enjoyed it. Yep, I did. Solos’ writing feels friendly and certainly not monotonous. To me, I felt as though she was writing the way she speaks and that makes for easy reading. But what makes this book good? Her steps are simple and…

Music for baby: Yanni’s Truth of Touch
I’m always on the look out for new music for myself and for Lil Man. So, when I had the opportunity to get a complimentary copy of Yanni’s new album Truth of Touch – I took it. Yanni? For my baby? Yes, that’s right. The first name that comes to mind when looking for music for your baby is probably Baby Einstein. In their list of music you have a variety of classics like Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. I listen to these also and have a few CDs and DVDs from Baby Einstein also. The Lil Man loves them. But, I think as parents we need to think outside the…

Playroom designs
One of the things we’re working on at home is preparing a playroom for the Lil Man and his friends. We have a small family room we’re planning to convert in another month. Designing the playroom is the challenge. There’s so much to choose from. When planning a play room, you need to decide what is important to you as parent and what you want for your child. Ultimately, the room is for them. Once you’ve measured the room and know your spacing, here are some questions you should ask yourself: What are his/her interests? Will they use it strictly for playing with toys? Do they like arts & crafts?…

Sleepless nights and guilt
The last two days have been crazy. I should say, my 9-month-old has been crazy. He’s been completely off his rocker. After two weeks of sleeping well, the last two nights he’s been waking up after two hours of sleep, crying, fussy and unwilling to go back to sleep. I’ve tried all the online tips I’ve seen on babycenter, the bump and other sites. We changed his diaper, fed him, held him, rocked him, cradled him, gave him his favorite toys, let him crawl around… we tried everything. Regardless whether I was holding him or not, he continued to scream and cry. Needless to say, I’m exhausted and have dark…
