Four Reasons to Live with Family

Many Chinese families tend to stick together through the years. Whether it’s living close by or living together, they share homes, live in multi-family homes or in the same town.

My friends fall into all three categories. Many of my friends live at home. Some live within 15miles of family and yet others share a home where they live on one floor and their parents and siblings live on another.

Here are four great reasons to live together:
1. Save money by splitting bills
2. Rely on each other to watch the kids
3. Kids have more people to learn from
4. Build close ties with the entire family

My family is no different. My grandmother lives with my second uncle while my eldest uncle and aunt live 15miles away. My brother and I live together while our mom lives 7miles away and our youngest uncle is about 25miles away. We have other family of course, but this is our immediate family.

My in-laws all live within 10-25 mile radius of each other with exception to my second brother-in-law who moved out of state for career opportunities.

Having grown up with my uncles, aunts, grandma and cousins closely in my life has made me who I am today. If not for them, I would not have had such a wonderful childhood at home. School life is a different story.
