5 Tools that Make Teaching Your Toddler the Alphabet Fun

They say young children develop one skill at a time. My lil man is a bit behind on speaking full sentences. When I compare him to friend’s who were born the same year, I’ve noticed many of them are all speaking full sentences. He’s now 26 months and just started stringing words together in English. Our pediatrician assured us early on it’s because he’s been able to speak sentences in Chinese and has learned sign language as well so she says it’s because he’s multi-lingual. While speech wasn’t his first development unlike this friends, lil man developed his motor skills very early on. For example, he was able to kick and hit…

Fast & Furious: Delivering My Second Baby & the Labor Involved

Yep, our lil lady arrived early at Week 38 and boy was it fast and furious! She arrived on August 22, 2012. Contractions began 1:50am at 15 minutes apart Spoke to my OBGYN at 215am just to let him know I started contractions, he said to wait til 8/9min apart so I wouldn’t get sent home in case the contractions stopped Within the hour I was at 2/3min It was that quick and I didn’t expect it to progress to fast. I called my mom to come over to stay with lil man to get her going then woke my hubs up. It took us 30min to get into the…

Adventures of Finding a Double Stroller

Lil lady is almost here. She’s due to arrive in six weeks. With the arrival of a second child and having a 2-year-old, hubs and I decided we needed a double stroller. I forewarn you…this is going to be a long one. There are a lot of strollers out there. Seriously. prices range of course as well and it depends on what features you want and your budget before you can really narrow it all down. One feature we wanted was a tandem stroller instead of a side-by-side. While most side-by-sides do fit into doorways these days many don’t fit in between aisles in stores. Especially not the children’s stores…

    Funtime Junction

A few weeks ago, I took lil man to Funtime Junction. We had purchased tickets from living social for a discount entry tickets. It was smaller than I expected. Definitely smaller than the new Paramus Chuck E. Cheese. I’m not sure I’d go there regularly simply because Chuck E. Cheese is so close by for us. But the other reason I wouldn’t go often is because of the entry fee. You pay the entry fee plus then you need to buy tokens to play games. They have an area where you can use tokens to buy time to shoot “balls” at each other. It’s fun, but again, it costs money. There’s…

Happy Birthday! My Lil Man Turns 2!

Today, my lil man turns 2 years old. I think every parent will agree with me ~ Time flies! I just can’t believe how quickly this past year has gone. It’s such a strange thing feeling that the year has gone so quickly yet I feel my pregnancy has gone so slowly. Anyhow, I wanted to write a little letter to my lil man today, so here goes. My Dearest Lil Man: Happy Birthday! You turn two today. You’ve grown so much this year especially the last few months! You’ve lost your baby fat. Started saying new words. Even the doctor said you’ve become a big boy in six months…

Family Fun at the 9th Annual North Jersey D.A.R.E. Carnival

It’s been another week of medical visits for me towing lil man along including today. I feel bad having to take him along, but obviously leaving him home alone isn’t an option. To make up for it, my hubs came home early from work yesterday, took lil man and I out to eat and headed to the Carnival. It was a great way to end the day and start off the weekend. The Carnival we went to is the 9th Annual North Jersey D.A.R.E. Carnival held at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ. Basically, bring your family for a fun time at an old-fashioned carnival and help your…
