Sponsored: Bronx Zoo Summer 2012 LEGO® WILDLIFE FOREST Exhibit & Building Zone
You know, I love the Bronx Zoo. But what can make it even better? LEGO!!! So, when I was notified by my Bronx Zoo contact as part of the Ambassador Program about this Summer LEGO program I was so excited! I can’t wait to go with lil man.
From July 3 – September 3, 2012, you can journey to the Bronx Zoo Wild Forest to check out giant LEGO sculptures of tigers, flamingos, gorillas, and other exotic wildlife, then visit their real-life counterparts around the zoo. Build your own LEGO sculptures at our construction zone, and enjoy Wildlife Theater performances and the hit musical puppet show, Avenue Zoo.
The entrance to the exhibit area will herald this temporary LEGO themed exhibit and the location will be transformed to immerse the visitor in an engaging experience with the structures and the story they tell. The story will be reinforced at each of the gates with LEGO themed navigation signage that becomes the vehicle to promote the exhibit at both the entrances and as a way finding symbol throughout the park. Each structure will be enhanced with design elements that reinforce the animal’s particular habitat. At each location, visitors will not only be able to view the wildlife sculpture, but also learn about WCS’s global work. The program reinforces the value of our Zoo wildlife as ambassadors to conservation.
Animal LEGO Sculptures include:
- Tiger
- Kihansi Spray Toads
- Chilean Flamingos
- Gorilla – mother and child
- Grizzly Bear Mural
- Penguins

Avenue Zoo – this program debuted in the spring and will be continued throughout the summer season. It’s a musical adventure that tells the story of Kate Monster, from Avenue Q, who ends up in a new habitat, Avenue Zoo. She meets up with various animals and discovers that although they may seem strange and different, they are important inhabitants of the planet with their own special contributions. And, they are not so scary after all.
